পাবনার ঈশ্বরদী উপজেলায় পূর্ব বিরোধের জেরে ইমরান হোসেন সোহাগ (২৬) নামে এক ছাত্রদল নেতাকে নির্মমভাবে কুপিয়ে হত্যা করেছে প্রতিপক্ষের সন্ত্রাসীরা। বৃহস্পতিবার (২ এপ্রিল) রাত সাড়ে ১০টার দিকে উপজেলার সাড়া গোপালপুর এলাকায় এই মর্মান্তিক ঘটনা ঘটে।
নিহত ইমরান হোসেন সোহাগ ঈশ্বরদী উপজেলার বাঘইল মন্নবীপাড়া গ্রামের এনামুল হকের ছেলে। তিনি উপজেলা ছাত্রদলের প্রস্তাবিত কমিটির সদস্য সচিব হিসেবে দায়িত্বে ছিলেন বলে জানা গেছে।
পুলিশ ও স্থানীয় সূত্রে জানা যায়, ঘটনার সময় সোহাগ তার কয়েকজন বন্ধুকে নিয়ে গোপালপুর রেললাইনের পাশের একটি চায়ের দোকানে বসে আড্ডা দিচ্ছিলেন। এ সময় পূর্বের শত্রুতার জেরে প্রতিপক্ষের একদল সন্ত্রাসী সেখানে এসে উপস্থিত হয়। কথা কাটাকাটির একপর্যায়ে তারা ধারালো অস্ত্র দিয়ে সোহাগকে এলোপাতাড়ি কুপিয়ে গুরুতর আহত করে এবং ঘটনাস্থল ত্যাগ করে। প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানান, হামলার সময় কয়েক রাউন্ড গুলির শব্দও শোনা গেছে।
গুরুতর আহত অবস্থায় ঘটনাস্থলেই সোহাগের মৃত্যু হয়।
ঈশ্বরদী সার্কেলের অতিরিক্ত পুলিশ সুপার প্রণব কুমার ঘটনার সত্যতা নিশ্চিত করে জানান, খবর পেয়ে পুলিশ দ্রুত ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছে পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে। তিনি বলেন, “নিহতের মাথার একটি অংশ গুরুতরভাবে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত হয়েছে। প্রাথমিকভাবে ধারণা করা হচ্ছে, তাকে কুপিয়েই হত্যা করা হয়েছে।”
তিনি আরও জানান, সুরতহাল প্রতিবেদন শেষে মরদেহ উদ্ধার করে ময়নাতদন্তের জন্য পাবনা জেনারেল হাসপাতালের মর্গে পাঠানো হবে। হত্যাকাণ্ডের পেছনে কারা জড়িত এবং কী কারণে এই ঘটনা ঘটেছে, তা তদন্ত করে দেখা হচ্ছে বলে জানিয়েছে পুলিশ।
