সিরাজগঞ্জের উল্লাপাড়ায় হিটস্ট্রোকে ২ জনের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। বৃহস্পতিবার সকাল ১০টার দিকে ধান কাটতে গিয়ে অসুস্থ হয়ে তারা মারা যান।
তারা হলেন- উপজেলার বাঙ্গালা ইউনিয়নের রহিমপুর গ্রামের কৃষক বিষ্ণুপদ মজুমদার (৫১) এবং বিনায়েকপুর গ্রামের ব্যবসায়ী ছাইদুল ইসলাম লাবলু (৫৭)। দুজনই তাদের গ্রামের পাশের জমিতে প্রচণ্ড রোদে ধান কাটছিলেন।
নিহতদের পরিবার সূত্রে জানা যায়, আজ ভোর থেকে তারা নিজেদের জমিতে শ্রমিকদের সঙ্গে ধান কাটছিলেন। সকাল ১০টার দিকে তীব্র তাপদাহের কারণে দুজনই গুরুতর অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়েন। পরে স্থানীয়রা তাদের দ্রুত উদ্ধার করে হাসপাতালে নিয়ে যায়। কিন্তু হাসপাতালে পৌঁছানোর আগেই তারা মারা যান।
বাঙ্গালা ইউনিয়ন পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান মো. সোহেল রানা ঘটনার সত্যতা নিশ্চিত করে জানান, প্রচণ্ড রোদে ধান কাটার সময় বিষ্ণুপদ মজুমদার ও ছাইদুল ইসলাম লাবলু হিটস্ট্রোকে আক্রান্ত হয়ে অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়েন। হাসপাতালে নেওবার পথে দুজনই মারা যান।
