বছরের প্রধান আবাদের ইরি বোরো ধান ফসল কাটা শুরু হয়েছে, সিরাজগঞ্জের উল্লাপাড়া উপজেলার সলঙ্গা রামকৃষ্ণপুর, বাঙ্গালা ইউনিয়ন এলাকাসহ বিভিন্ন এলাকার মাঠের পাকা বোরো ধান কেটে ঘরে তুলছেন কৃষকেরা। বোরো হাইব্রিড, বোরো উফশী ও বোরো স্থানীয় মিলে মোট ৪৭ নাম জাতের ধান আবাদ করা হয়েছে। এবার ধানের ফলন ভালো হচ্ছে বলে জানায় কৃষকরা। আর দিন যেতেই ধান কাটায় গ্রামীণ মজুরদের চাহিদা ও মজুরির দামও বাড়ছে৷
উপজেলা কৃষি অফিস থেকে জানানো তথ্যে এবারের মৌসুমে গোটা উপজেলায় ৩০ হাজার ২৫৫ হেক্টর জমিতে বোরো ধান আবাদের সরকারি লক্ষ্যমাত্রা ছিল ৷ সেখানে লক্ষ্যমাত্রার চেয়ে ৯৫ হেক্টর বেশি জমিতে আবাদ হয়েছে। বোরো ধান ফসলের আবাদ উপজেলার প্রায় সব মাঠেই কম বেশি পরিমাণ জমিতে করা হয়েছে। কৃষকেরা বেশি হারে ফলনশীল নানা নামের হাইব্রিড জাতের ধানসহ নানা জাতের ধানের আবাদ করেছেন।
জানা গেছে ব্রি ধান ৮৯ জাতের ধান সবচেয়ে বেশী পরিমাণ জমিতে আবাদ করা হয়েছে ৷ এছাড়া ব্রি ধান ২৮, ব্রি ধান ২৯, ব্রি ধান ৯২, বঙ্গবন্ধু ১০০, শুভলতা, কাটারীভোগসহ নানা জাতের ধান কৃষকেরা আবাদ করেছেন৷
গত সপ্তাহখানেক সময়ে উপজেলার সদর উল্লাপাড়া, রামকৃষ্ণপুর, সলঙ্গা ইউনিয়নের বিভিন্ন এলাকার মাঠে আগাম করে লাগানো বোরো ধান কাটা শুরু হয়েছে। বনবাড়িয়া, বেতুয়া, আঙ্গারু উত্তরপাড়া, জগজীবনপুর, শহরিয়ারপুর এলাকার মাঠে কৃষকদেরকে বোরো ধান ফসল কাটতে দেখা গেছে।
কৃষকরা জানান, এবার বেশ ভালো ফলন পাচ্ছেন। তারা এমন ফলনে খুশী। বনবাড়িয়ার কৃষক রফিকুল ইসলাম জানান কাটারীভোগ ধান কেটে মাড়াই পর ওজন করেছেন। তার হিসাবে বিঘা প্রতি প্রায় ২৮ মণ হার ফলন হয়েছে। তার কথায় প্রায় একই হারে শুভলতা জাতের ধানের ফলন মিলছে।
জগজীবনপুরের কৃষক হান্নান মিয়া জানান, তারা ব্রিধান ২৮ এর ফলন আশার চেয়ে বেশি বলতে ভালো হারে পেয়েছেন। আঙ্গারু উত্তরপাড়া মাঠে নেজাব মিয়ার জমির ধান দিন হাজিরার মজুরদের কাটা ও বয়ে নিতে দেখা গেছে। এদিকে মাঠের ধান কাটা কাজে গ্রামীণ দিন মজুরদের চাহিদা এখন দিন যেতেই বাড়ছে। একজন ধান কাটা শ্রমিকের দৈনিক মজুরির দাম সাড়ে চারশো থেকে পাঁচশো টাকা হয়েছে। আঙ্গারু উত্তরপাড়া মাঠ থেকে দুটি ঘোড়গাড়ীতে করে কাটা ধান বয়ে কৃষকদের বাড়ি নিতে দেখা গেছে।
ঘোড়গাড়ী চালক রফিক বলেন, এক বিঘা জমির ধান আটশো থেকে এক হাজার টাকায় গোড়গাড়ীতে বয়ে কৃষকদের বাড়ি পৌঁছে দেওয়া হচ্ছে।
উল্লাপাড়া উপজেলা কৃষি কর্মকর্তা সুবর্ণা ইয়াসমিন সুমী (কালের বেলাকে) জানান, কৃষকেরা বেশি হারে ফলনশীল বিভিন্ন জাতের বোরো ধান আবাদ করেছেন। সঠিক সময়ে সঠিক পরিচর্যায় ধানে রোগ বালাই হয়নি বলা চলে। কৃষকেরা ধানের ফলনও ভালো হারে পাচ্ছেন।আবহাওয়া বোরো ধান চাষের উপযোগী ছিল। উপজেলায় এ পর্যন্ত ৩০% এরও বেশি ধান কর্তন হয়েছে। শেষ পর্যন্ত প্রাকৃতিক দুর্যোগ না হলে ফলন পূর্বের রেকর্ড ছাড়িয়ে যাবে বলে আশা করেন এই কর্মকর্তা।
