অবশেষে দীর্ঘ প্রতীক্ষার অবসান ঘটল রবীন্দ্র বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থী, শিক্ষক ও কর্মচারীদের। জাতীয় অর্থনৈতিক পরিষদের নির্বাহী কমিটির (একনেক) সভায় রবীন্দ্র বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের স্থায়ী ক্যাম্পাস স্থাপনসহ মোট ৬ হাজার ৫০৬ কোটি টাকার ১০টি প্রকল্প অনুমোদন দেওয়া হয়েছে।
রোববার (১৭ আগস্ট) দুপুরে রাজধানীর শেরেবাংলা নগরের পরিকল্পনা কমিশন চত্বরে এনইসি সম্মেলন কক্ষে প্রধান উপদেষ্টা ও একনেকের চেয়ারপারসন ড. মুহাম্মদ ইউনূসের সভাপতিত্বে অনুষ্ঠিত সভায় এই অনুমোদন দেওয়া হয়।
খবরটি ছড়িয়ে পড়ার সঙ্গে সঙ্গেই আন্দোলনরত শিক্ষার্থীরা আনন্দ-উল্লাসে ফেটে পড়েন। টানা গণঅনশন ভেঙে শিক্ষার্থীরা পানি পান করেন। এসময় তাদের মুখে প্রতিধ্বনিত হয়—“প্রতীক্ষার জয়, শিক্ষার জয়।” অনশনরত শিক্ষার্থীদের হাতে পানি তুলে দেন বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রো-ভিসি ড. সুমন কান্তি বড়ুয়া।
শিক্ষার্থী ও শিক্ষকরা সরকারের প্রতি কৃতজ্ঞতা প্রকাশ করে জানান, আগামীকাল থেকেই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ে স্বাভাবিক ক্লাস শুরু হবে।
আন্দোলনের প্রেক্ষাপট
স্থায়ী ক্যাম্পাসের দাবিতে গত ২৬ জুলাই বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় দিবস বয়কটের মাধ্যমে আন্দোলন শুরু করেন রবীন্দ্র বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষার্থীরা। পরে গত শনিবার থেকে তারা আমরণ গণঅনশন শুরু করেন। এসময় অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়েন অন্তত ১৫ শিক্ষার্থী। আন্দোলনে সংহতি জানিয়ে প্রতীকী অনশনে অংশ নেন শিক্ষক, কর্মকর্তা ও কর্মচারীরাও।
শিক্ষার্থীদের কর্মসূচিতে একাত্মতা প্রকাশ করে বিভিন্ন রাজনৈতিক দল, সামাজিক ও সাংস্কৃতিক সংগঠন, জাতীয় নাগরিক পার্টি, বহল বাড়ি ও বুড়ি পোতাজিয়া সচেতন নাগরিক ফোরাম, শাহজাদপুর সচেতন নাগরিক ফোরাম, মালিথা স্মৃতি পরিষদ এবং শাহজাদপুর স্বার্থরক্ষা কমিটি।
রবীন্দ্র বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের প্রেক্ষাপট
বিশ্বকবি রবীন্দ্রনাথ ঠাকুরের স্মৃতিবিজড়িত সিরাজগঞ্জের শাহজাদপুরে ২২৫ একর জমি বরাদ্দ দিয়ে প্রায় নয় বছর আগে প্রতিষ্ঠা করা হয় রবীন্দ্র বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়, বাংলাদেশ। তবে এতদিনেও স্থায়ী ক্যাম্পাস নির্মাণ হয়নি। শিক্ষার্থীদের লাগাতার আন্দোলন ও ডিপিপি অনুমোদনের দাবির মুখে অবশেষে এ প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়নের পথ সুগম হলো।
উল্লেখ্য, এটি চলতি ২০২৫-২৬ অর্থবছরের দ্বিতীয় ও অন্তর্বর্তী সরকারের ১৩তম একনেক সভা।
