জানা গেছে, যেসব কর্মকর্তা মামলামুক্ত, ইমেজ ভালো, গ্রহণযোগ্য এবং দায়িত্ব পালনে সক্ষম বলে বিবেচিত তাদের মধ্য থেকেই লটারিতে নতুন পদায়ন হবে। ফলে যোগ্যতা, পেশাদারিত্ব এবং স্বচ্ছতার ভিত্তিতেই কর্মকর্তা নির্বাচন নিশ্চিত করা হবে।
অন্যদিকে, দুর্নীতি, ঘুষ বাণিজ্য, ক্ষমতাসীন দলের নেতাকর্মীদের সঙ্গে অনৈতিক যোগসাজশ, বিতর্কিত কর্মকাণ্ড বা তদন্তাধীন অভিযোগ রয়েছে এমন এসপি ও ওসিদের কোনো জেলার দায়িত্বে রাখা হচ্ছে না। সম্ভাব্য পদায়নের তালিকা থেকেও তারা বাদ পড়বেন।
সম্প্রতি আইনশৃঙ্খলা সংক্রান্ত উপদেষ্টা কমিটির সভায় এসব সিদ্ধান্ত নেওয়া হয়েছে। সভা শেষে স্বরাষ্ট্র উপদেষ্টা জাহাঙ্গীর আলম চৌধুরী সাংবাদিকদের জানান, নির্বাচনের প্রস্তুতি সন্তোষজনক পর্যায়ে রয়েছে। প্রশিক্ষণ শেষে একাধিক ধাপে রিহার্সেল আয়োজন করা হবে।
তিনি আরও জানান, নির্বাচনী আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষায় মাঠে থাকবে বিপুল পরিমাণ ফোর্স পুলিশ ১.৫ লাখ, সেনাবাহিনী ১ লাখ, বিজিবি ৩৫ হাজার, আনসার ৫ লাখ ৫০ হাজার এবং নৌবাহিনীর প্রায় ৪ হাজার ৫০০ সদস্য। সন্ত্রাস নাশকতা প্রতিরোধ, মাদক নিয়ন্ত্রণ এবং অবৈধ অস্ত্র উদ্ধার অভিযান আরও জোরদার করা হবে।
