সিরাজগঞ্জের উল্লাপাড়ায় রাস্তায় পরিত্যক্ত অবস্থায় এক নবজাতক কন্যা শিশুকে উদ্ধার করেছে স্থানীয় প্রশাসন। শিশুটিকে সুস্থ অবস্থায় হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে। এ ঘটনাকে কেন্দ্র করে এলাকায় চাঞ্চল্যের সৃষ্টি হয়েছে।
স্থানীয়রা জানান, সোমবার গভীর রাতে আনুমানিক ২টার দিকে উল্লাপাড়া কেয়ার হাসপাতালের সামনে কান্নার শব্দ শুনে কিছু পথচারী এগিয়ে যান। তারা দেখতে পান কাপড়ে জড়ানো অবস্থায় এক নবজাতক রাস্তার ধারে পড়ে আছে। বিষয়টি দ্রুত প্রশাসনকে জানানো হয়।
খবর পেয়ে উপজেলা সমাজসেবা কর্মকর্তা রফিকুল ইসলাম ও মহিলা বিষয়ক কর্মকর্তা নিলুফা ইয়াসমিন ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছে স্থানীয়দের সহায়তায় নবজাতকটিকে উদ্ধার করেন। পরে তাকে চিকিৎসার জন্য কেয়ার হাসপাতালে ভর্তি করা হয়। হাসপাতালের চিকিৎসকরা জানান, নবজাতকটি সদ্যোজাত এবং সময়মতো উদ্ধার হওয়ায় প্রাণে রক্ষা পেয়েছে। বর্তমানে শিশুটি সম্পূর্ণ নিরাপদ ও সুস্থ আছে।
উল্লাপাড়া উপজেলা যুব উন্নয়ন কর্মকর্তা সাইদুল ইসলাম (মোগল) বলেন, শিশুটির বিষয়টি আমরা প্রশাসনের নজরে এনেছি। তার নিরাপত্তা ও পরবর্তী ব্যবস্থা নিয়ে আলোচনা চলছে।
প্রশাসনের ধারণা, কেউ হয়তো অবাঞ্ছিত সন্তান হওয়ায় নবজাতকটিকে ফেলে গেছে। বিষয়টি তদন্তে পুলিশ কাজ শুরু করেছে।
স্থানীয়দের মতে, মানবিকতা আজও সমাজের অনেক কোণে হারিয়ে যাচ্ছে। তারা প্রশাসনের কাছে শিশুটির ভবিষ্যৎ নিরাপত্তা নিশ্চিত করার দাবি জানিয়েছেন।
বর্তমানে নবজাতকটি কেয়ার হাসপাতালের তত্ত্বাবধানে রয়েছে এবং চিকিৎসকদের নিবিড় পর্যবেক্ষণে রাখা হয়েছে। এ ঘটনার পর পুরো এলাকায় আলোচনা ও উদ্বেগ দেখা দিয়েছে।
