সিরাজগঞ্জ-৩ আসনের চারবারের নির্বাচিত সংসদ সদস্য ও বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসন বেগম খালেদা জিয়ার উপদেষ্টা আব্দুল মান্নান তালুকদার বার্ধক্য জনিত কারণে ঢাকার নিজ বাসভবনে ইন্তেকাল করেছেন (ইন্না-লিল্লাহি ওয়া ইন্না লিল্লাহি রাজিউন)।
আজ শুক্রবার (১৮ জুলাই) বেলা ১১টায় ঢাকায় নিজ বাসভবনে তিনি শেষ নিঃশ্বাস ত্যাগ করেন। মৃতুকালে তার বয়স হয়েছিল ৯৫ বছর। তিনি বেশ কিছু দিন ধরে বার্ধক্য জনিত রোগে আক্রান্ত ছিলেন।
তিনি স্ত্রী, তিন ছেলে ও দুই মেয়ে রেখে গেছেন। তিনি সিরাজগঞ্জের রায়গঞ্জ উপজেলার ধুপিল গ্রামের ঐতিহ্যবাহী তালুকদার পরিবারে জন্মগ্রহণ করেন।
তিনি সিরাজগঞ্জ-৩ ( তাড়াশ- রায়গঞ্জ উপজেলা) আসন থেকে বাংলাদেশ জাতীয়তাবাদী দলের হয়ে ১৯৯১ সালে পঞ্চম, ১৯৯৬ সালের ষষ্ঠ, ১৯৯৬ সালের সপ্তম ও ২০০১ সালে অষ্টম জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে এমপি নির্বাচিত হন।
সিরাজগঞ্জ জেলা বিএনপির সহদপ্তর সম্পাদক শেখ মো. এনামুল হক বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে বলেন, ‘জানাজার সময় ও স্থান পরে জানানো হবে।
তিনি ২০০১ সালে এমপি নির্বাচিত হওয়ার পর স্থানীয় সরকার মন্ত্রণালয়ের স্থায়ী কমিটির সভাপতি হিসেবে রায়গঞ্জ ও তাড়াশ উপজেলায় ব্যাপক উন্নয়ন করেন। মৃত্যুর আগ পর্যন্ত তিনি বিএনপি চেয়ারপারসনের উপদেষ্টা হিসেবে দায়িত্ব পালন করেছেন।
সাবেক এই সংসদ সদস্যের মৃত্যুতে বিএনপির স্থায়ী কমিটির সদস্য ইকবাল হাসান মাহমুদ টুকু, জেলা বিএনপির সভাপতি রুমানা মাহমুদ , জেলা জামায়াতের আমীর অধ্যক্ষ শাহিনুল আলম এবং জেলা বিএনপির সাধারণ সাধারণ সম্পাদক সাইদুর রহমান বাচ্চু, রায়গঞ্জ উপজেলা উপজেলা পরিষদের সাবেক চেয়ারম্যান এবিএম আব্দুস সাত্তার,গভীর শোক প্রকাশ করেছেন এবং শোকসন্তপ্ত পরিবারের প্রতি সমবেদনা জানিয়েছেন।
