রাজধানীর কারওয়ান বাজারে অবস্থিত একুশে টেলিভিশন (ইটিভি) ভবনে ভয়াবহ অগ্নিকাণ্ডের ঘটনা ঘটেছে।
শনিবার (১৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি) রাত সাড়ে ৮টার দিকে ভবনটির নিচতলার কফি হাউজ থেকে আগুনের সূত্রপাত হয় বলে জানা গেছে। তবে আগুন লাগার সঠিক কারণ ও ক্ষয়ক্ষতির পরিমাণ এখনও জানা যায়নি।
প্রাথমিকভাবে ফায়ার সার্ভিসের দুটি ইউনিট আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণে কাজ শুরু করে। পরে পরিস্থিতি বিবেচনায় তেজগাঁও থেকে আরও দুটি ইউনিট পাঠানো হয়েছে।
জানা গেছে, ১১ তলা ভবনটির ছাদে একুশে টেলিভিশনসহ অন্যান্য প্রতিষ্ঠানের প্রায় ৬০-৭০ জন আটকা পড়েছেন। তাদের উদ্ধার করতে ফায়ার সার্ভিসের কর্মীরা কাজ করছেন।
সর্বশেষ পাওয়া তথ্য অনুযায়ী, আগুন নিয়ন্ত্রণের প্রচেষ্টা চলছে, তবে এখনো পুরোপুরি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আসেনি।
