ধর্ম নিয়ে কটূক্তির অভিযোগে ডিজিটাল নিরাপত্তা আইনে দায়ের করা মামলায় জগন্নাথ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের (জবি) শিক্ষার্থী তিথি সরকারকে পাঁচ বছরের কারাদণ্ড দিয়েছেন আদালত।
সোমবার (১৩ মে) ঢাকার সাইবার ট্রাইব্যুনাল আদালতের বিচারক এ এম জুলফিকার হায়াত এ রায় ঘোষণা করেন। বিচারক রায়ে উল্লেখ করেন, তিথি সরকারের আগের ২১ মাসের কারাভোগ বর্তমান সাজা থেকে বাদ যাবে। এ ছাড়া তাকে এক বছরের জন্য প্রবেশনে রাখার আদেশ দেওয়া হয়। এই সময়ে নিয়মিত প্রবেশন কর্মকর্তার কাছে হাজিরা দিতে হবে তাকে।
সংশ্লিষ্ট ট্রাইব্যুনালের বেঞ্চ সহকারী জুয়েল মিয়া (কালের বেলাকে) এ তথ্য নিশ্চিত করেছেন।
মামলার অভিযোগ সূত্রে জানা যায়, দীর্ঘদিন ধরে মহানবী হযরত মুহাম্মদ (সা.)-কে নিয়ে ফেসবুকে ও বিভিন্ন সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যমে বিরূপ মন্তব্য করে আসছিলেন তিথি সরকার। পরে ধর্ম অবমাননার অভিযোগে জগন্নাথ বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের বেশ কিছু ছাত্র সংগঠন ও সাধারণ শিক্ষার্থীরা তিথি সরকারের বহিষ্কারের দাবিতে মানববন্ধন ও প্রতিবাদ সমাবেশ করেন। শিক্ষার্থীদের আন্দোলনের মুখে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রশাসন তিথি সরকারকে সাময়িক বহিষ্কার করে।
২০২০ সালের ২ নভেম্বর তিথি সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে পল্টন থানায় ডিজিটাল নিরাপত্তা আইনে মামলা হয়। ২০২১ সালের ১৯ মে মামলার তদন্ত কর্মকর্তা সিআইডি পুলিশের উপ-পরিদর্শক মেহেদী হাসান চার্জশিট দাখিল করেন। ২০২১ সালের ৪ নভেম্বর তিথি সরকারের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ গঠন করেন আদালত।
