সিরাজগঞ্জের শাহজাদপুর উপজেলার বেলতৈল ইউনিয়নের কুঠি সাতবাড়িয়া কবরস্থান থেকে ১৬টি মানবকঙ্কাল চুরি করে নিয়ে গেছে দুর্বৃত্তরা। গত সোমবার (২০ অক্টোবর) রাতের কোনো এক সময়ে এ ঘটনা ঘটে বলে জানা গেছে।
বুধবার (২২ অক্টোবর) সকালে ফজরের নামাজ শেষে স্থানীয় মুসল্লিরা কবরস্থানে এসে কবরগুলোর মাটি আলগা দেখতে পান। পরে কাছে গিয়ে দেখা যায় ১৬টি কবর খুঁড়ে সদ্য দাফনকৃত মৃতদেহের মাথা থেকে কোমর পর্যন্ত অংশের কঙ্কাল চুরি হয়ে গেছে। ঘটনাটি ছড়িয়ে পড়লে সেখানে ভিড় করেন স্বজন ও এলাকাবাসী। এলাকায় ছড়িয়ে পড়ে তীব্র ক্ষোভ ও আতঙ্ক।
কবরস্থান পরিচালনা কমিটির সদস্যরা জানান, ১ থেকে দেড় বছর আগে দাফন করা মৃতদেহগুলোর কঙ্কাল নিয়েই চোরচক্র পালিয়েছে। ঘটনাস্থল থেকে তাদের ব্যবহৃত ট্রাউজার, গেঞ্জি ও কবর খোঁড়ার বিভিন্ন সরঞ্জাম রেখে গেছে। পরে স্থানীয়দের উদ্যোগে খুঁড়ে রাখা কবরগুলো পুনরায় মাটি চাপা দেওয়া হয়। এ ঘটনায় থানায় অভিযোগের প্রস্তুতি চলছে।
স্থানীয় স্কুলশিক্ষক ছানোয়ার হোসেন বলেন, এ ধরনের নৃশংস ঘটনায় আমরা হতবাক। কঙ্কাল চুরির মতো অপরাধ খুবই গর্হিত ও উদ্বেগজনক।
শাহজাদপুর থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) মো. আছলাম আলী বলেন, এ ঘটনায় এখনও কেউ আনুষ্ঠানিক অভিযোগ দেয়নি। অভিযোগ পেলে তদন্ত করে আইনগত ব্যবস্থা নেওয়া হবে।
স্থানীয়দের দাবি কবর রক্ষায় প্রয়োজনীয় নিরাপত্তা ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ এবং এই কঙ্কাল-চোর চক্রকে দ্রুত শনাক্ত করে আইনের আওতায় আনা হোক।
