জানা যায়, একসময় স্থবির হয়ে পড়েছিল সিরাজগঞ্জ ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশনের কাজ। তবে উপ-পরিচালক ফারুক আহমেদ যোগদানের পর নয়টি উপজেলায় সরেজমিনে গিয়ে কর্মকর্তাদের সঙ্গে মতবিনিময় করে মাঠ পর্যায়ের কার্যক্রমে গতি সঞ্চার করেন। তার দক্ষ নেতৃত্বে অল্প সময়েই জেলার ইফা কার্যক্রম প্রাণ ফিরে পায়।
সরকারি যাকাত সংগ্রহে সাফল্য অর্জন করে সিরাজগঞ্জ জেলা এখন সারা দেশে নজর কাড়ছে। ২০২১ সালে ৪র্থ, ২০২২ সালে ৫ম, ২০২৩ সালে ১০ম এবং ২০২৪ সালে পুনরায় ৪র্থ স্থান অধিকার করে। অথচ এর আগে কখনো ২০তম স্থানের ওপরে উঠতে পারেনি জেলা।
ফারুক আহমেদের সততা প্রশাসনিক কার্যক্রমেও দৃষ্টান্ত স্থাপন করেছে। গণশিক্ষা প্রকল্পে ২০২৪-২৫ অর্থবছরে বরাদ্দকৃত ৫২ লাখ ৮৩ হাজার ৩৩৫ টাকা থেকে ব্যয়ের পর অব্যয়িত ২২ লাখ ৮৪ হাজার ৫২ টাকা সরকারি কোষাগারে ফেরত দেন তিনি। এমনকি পুরাতন পত্রিকা বিক্রির ১ লাখ ১৬ হাজার ৭৩০ টাকাও কোষাগারে জমা দিয়ে তিনি নজির স্থাপন করেছেন।
ইফার আওতাধীন মসজিদভিত্তিক শিশু ও গণশিক্ষা কার্যক্রম তার নিবিড় তত্ত্বাবধানে এখন নতুন প্রাণ ফিরে পেয়েছে। মাঠপর্যায়ের শিক্ষকরা জানাচ্ছেন, শিশুরা যেমন ধর্মীয় মূল্যবোধ ও নৈতিক শিক্ষায় আলোকিত হচ্ছে, তেমনি সাধারণ মানুষের মধ্যেও ইসলামিক ফাউন্ডেশনের প্রতি আস্থা বাড়ছে।
